Hiking M’goun Morocco And The Ait Bouguemez Valley In 6 Days

Early morning departure from Marrakesh to the small town of Azilal (the gateway to the mountains). Then on to the Col de Tizi N'oughbar before arriving in the Happy Valley of the Aît-Bougmez. Meeting with our team of muleteers. Lunch, then we head up the small Arous Valley towards the IKKIS n'Arous sheepfolds. Duration: 5-hour walk. 2 hours 30 minutes walk. Ascent: 500m. Overnight in tents.

We climb up to the Tarkedit pass at 3400m altitude, stopping a few times before the pass where the view is magical over the Mgoun range and the Mgoun summit at 4068m. A one-hour descent to the Tarkedit plateau, a vast plateau frequented by Nomads. Duration: 5 hours 30 minutes walk. Difference in altitude: 1050m ascent and 500m descent. Overnight in tents.

A long 9-hour stage. We climb up to the ridge, from where the views are panoramic, to the summit of M'Goun; the roof of the central High Atlas, where the view is splendid over the whole M'Goun Massif and its distant valleys (Drâa and Dadès Valleys...), then a long descent through beautiful scenery to reach our camp. Duration: a 9-hour walk. Altitude difference: 1170m ascent and negative 1470m. Overnight in tents.

Ait Imi Col (2905m) - Ait Imi spring( 2100m) Meeting with nomad families and their herds. We climb up to the Ait Imi pass (2905 m), with a panoramic view of all the surrounding mountains and a view of the Mgoun behind. A long descent to the Ait Bougmez Valley. Half-meal with juniper amber. After an hour's walk we reach our camp near the Ait Imi spring. Walking time: 5 hrs 30 mins. Night in tents.

A quiet day to discover the natural, architectural and cultural riches of the happy Aït Bougmez Valley. We start our day with a visit to the dinosaur tracks in the heart of the village of Ibaklioun. Then an hour's climb to the Adazen ridge through juniper forest. Then down a narrow path to the village of Ait Ouangdal. We pass through many villages with adobe houses, blending in with the impressive Atlas landscapes. We climb up to the ancient Marabout and fortified granary of Sidi Moussa, which offers a beautiful view over the valley. 5-hour walk. Overnight in a local guesthouse in Timit.

Transfer by vehicle to the small town of Azilal via another road. A visit to the Ouzoud waterfalls is well planned. Lunch in a small local restaurant near the waterfalls. We then continue on to Marrakesh. Arrival around 5pm. 5 hour drive. End of our services.
